I see myself as a fashion enthusiast and that’s how I approach the way I dress. I just love shopping. I love fashion. Could I tell you the detailed history of Cristóbal Balenciaga? Not yet, but I could tell you what I love about the Balenciaga collection and what I would want to wear.
‘With the rise of social media, I have to be conscious about what I’m wearing. I think it’s a wonderful way to share my thoughts as a lot of my followers don’t have the opportunity to live in New York or to travel to London, Paris or Milan. I feel very fortunate to live this fun lifestyle and I love sharing it. Being able to tweet an editor and get a response is the amazing thing about technology these days. I really enjoy embracing it because it is something that I didn’t have when I was younger.
‘I love the thrill of the chase. For me, it’s about thoughtful shopping, whether you’re buying a $50 piece, or something for $500 or $2,000. Even if I’m shopping on the high street, I’m buying with the intent of integrating it with something else, something that I really love.
‘My look is quite sporty, a bit quirky and a little girlie. I grew up in downtown New York so I definitely have a downtown aesthetic. On weekdays, I tend to wear a little skirt and T-shirt or a dress with heels – I have a whole wardrobe of dresses. On the weekends, I live in relaxed boyfriend jeans with Balenciaga boots. Right now I’m obviously with the rest of the world on sweatshirt dressing. Even when I’m 80 years old, I’ll still love the school-girl look of loafers with a pleated skirt and sweater.
