Camillian Social Center Chiang Rai is dedicated to ensuring that all hill tribe children throughout North Thailand - whether poor, orphaned or living with physical or learning difficulties - and their communities are given the opportunity to build a better life. At the Home of Charity, one of the Camillian Social Center's eight projects, we are always looking for enthusiastic, energetic and talented volunteers. Our Home of Charity provides free on-site care, rehabilitation and education for hill tribe children with physical and learning difficulties.
Location: Muang district, Chiang Rai province, Thailand
Volunteer Work: Volunteers help with hands-on teaching, care-giving and general management. Depending on your unique skills and expertise, your work with us can vary. For some, a typical day may be teaching classes to the children, such as math's, art, dance, English or basic computing and helping the children during swimming or mealtimes; for others it may include teaching English lessons, assisting on field trips and providing website, translations and copywriting support; and for volunteers that are qualified, we greatly value those that can provide relevant therapy sessions and advice including physical, occupational, cognitive and speech therapy. Whatever help you can offer, you can guarantee that your day will be filled with smiles, laughter and having lots of fun with the children!
Commitment: 1 month minimum. Volunteers with specialist skills (e.g. therapists) are able to stay with us for shorter periods. Weekends are your free days and depending on your role, your working day will begin at 8am or 9am. Although teaching finishes at 3pm, many volunteers stay around to play and relax with the children until their bed time at 7.30pm.
Cost: Volunteers receive free accommodation and food. Donations are appreciated to help cover the expenses.
