The results of these studies show that it is possible to obtain
carbon materials with a relatively high surface area using KOH as
the activating agent. However, due to the different activation conditions
used in individual studies, it is difficult to directly compare the
usefulness of the various agricultural raw materials for the carbon
materials preparation. Therefore, there is still a need to continue
these studies in order to systematize the influence of chemical activation
parameters on obtaining the carbons with highly developed
surface area and with the suitable porosity.
Activated carbon can be used for the separation of gases, recovery
of solvent, and removal of organic pollution. Additionally, a very
promising application of AC is in natural gas storage.
Natural gas storage in the form of adsorbed natural gas (ANG)
is superior to the current compression technology because it offers
the advantages of low cost, energy efficiency, and safety. Adsorbed
