5. Determination of total phenolic content
The total phenolic content of the ethanolic extracts was determined by the Folin–Ciocalteau
colorimetric method (Vernon et. al., 1999). The absorbance was recorded at 765 nm using a
Microplate Reader (PowerWaveX, Biotek, U.S.A.) and using Gallic acid as a standard. The results were expressed as milligrams of gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per gram of dry weight (dw). All
determinations were performed in triplicate (n = 3).
