The higher LAI and GY/ha produced by NCRIBen001M at 5cm intra row spacing signified that, it is
better suited to cropping at a narrow intra row spacing or high plant population density than NCRIBen002M. The
observed decrease in LAI, CGR and GY/ha of both varieties with increasing intra row spacing showed that, narrow intra row spacing of 5cm is best suited for higher grain yield of both varieties. However, the higher grain
yield obtained by NCRIBen001M at all the levels of nitrogen and at all the three intra row spacing except at 5cm
and 60kgN/ha showed that, it is better suited to cropping at narrow intra row spacing of 5cm and better utilized
available nitrogen fertilizer than NCRIBen002M.
