Aims and Ideologies
Education is an intentional activity, and the statement of the underlying intentions constitutes the aims of education. However intentions do not exist in the abstract, and to assume that they do leads to a false objectification of aims. Any elucidation of aims needs to specify their ownership, for aims in education represent the intentions of individuals or groups of person. As Sockett says : ‘Intentional human action must stand at the centre of an account of curriculum aims and objectives.’ (Sockett, 1975, page 152, emphasis added)
