The SA Government News Agency is a news service, published by the Department of Communications (DOC). The people of South Africa have a right to information, irrespective of their class, colour or creed. The Government has a mandate to ensure that its entire people have access to information. In order to make this possible, SAnews.gov.za was established to provide quick and easy access to articles and feature stories aimed at keeping the public informed about the implementation of government's mandate.
An achievement of note for SAnews.gov.za was the clinching of a National Productivity Institute (NPI) Merit Award, in 2000, in recognition of the work it has done in disadvantaged communities
