Yuu, cold to Mika? Really? I didn’t notice anything like that in the recent chapters… are you sure it isn’t just the shipper glasses distorting people’s perspective and making them expect something like endless hugs between Yuu and Mika every second of their panel time? Because the interpretation of the recent chapters as Yuu being cold to Mika sure sounds to me like that’s the case, you know. Yuu declaring that he would kill Mika if Mika didn’t step aside, that was the demon, what do you expect, Yuu isn’t exactly to blame for that. And currently, the squad’s situation hasn’t changed for the better one bit, they’re still hopelessly weaker than the opponent, Ferid still can kill them all any moment he pleases; Yuu’s doing all he can to prevent that from happening and at the same time get the necessary information out of Ferid, the certified mind games master extraordinaire, so if you ask me, Yuu being anything less focused and intent than what he was shown to be in the recent chapter and sparing his comrades anything more than a glance just to make sure they’re still alive and kicking would be highly weird and hardly believable under the circumstances.
The Yuu we see now is not the same BakaYuu he used to be. The transition to the new Yuu might not have been the smoothest, but the reasons behind it were explained well enough for me to buy it. I can understand that some fans might miss that old Yuu, but as the story progresses, if it’s a good story, it’s only natural for the characters to grow, especially for the main ones. With his growth, Yuu’s tendencies also clearly changed. Yes, he still reserves the right to make decisions for himself on his own, but he does take his friends’ opinions in consideration when making his decisions, and he does learn from his mistakes, him figuring out that it’s his trying to run away the main reason why those he holds dear end up getting killed is a primary example.
