The isotherm
model that best fitted to experimental data was Redlich–Peterson,
which through the parameters analysis demonstrated that
Langmuir theory is the most suitable to describe the adsorption
of MB onto ACb, showing a maximum monolayer adsorption
capacity (Qm) of 274.62 mg g1. For kinetic data, the Elovich model
was satisfactorily adjusted, suggesting that the adsorption process
is controlled by chemisorption. Additionally, intraparticle diffusion
demonstrated to be the limiting step of the adsorption process.
Thus, the results presented in this study allow us to conclude that
the buriti shells are a potential precursor for AC production with
considerable application for adsorption of organic pollutants.
