Ant communities on Bird Island were relatively species-poor. Four morphospecies
were collected in ‘Anoplolepis-free’ plots (including Anoplolepis). All of
these, together with three further taxa, were found in ‘Anoplolepis-infested’ plots.
Assemblages of ants other than Anoplolepis from crazy ant infested plots tended tobe smaller than in Anoplolepis-free areas, but for each ant species involved these
differences were not significant (Table 4).
