Assisted suicide is a form of ‘Euthanasia’ which means ‘good death’ in Greek. It is defined as “…a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering,” (Harris, 2001)[1]. Euthanasia can fall into two categories: passive and active euthanasia.
Passive euthanasia is when a physician withdraws medical treatment to cause death of a person. On the other hand, active euthanasia is when a physician takes steps to cause death of a person.
