One of the most serious effects of overpopulation is food shortage. Food shortage is a condition when a country cannot fulfill their food needs by its own national production. The country must import foods from other countries such as rice, corn, sugar, and flour. In the real condition, Indonesia experienced food shortage in last 3 years. Indonesia had to stock rice from Vietnam and Thailand to fulfill the national consumption. Consequently, Indonesia spent out more than 500 billion rupiah to pay for the import. Because of the food shortage, Indonesia has to sacrifice other’s fund allocation to cover the national food needs. Another serious effect of overpopulation is unemployment. Unemployment is happened because the working opportunities are less than the number of people who enter the working age. Moreover, additional people in working age are not followed by the additional skills or competence. Hence, the number of unemployment in Indonesia is increasing year by year; it is dominated by the age 18 to 25 years old.
