Within the legitimate system, then, the influence of the strategic planning process cascades down the dependent strategic plans to the strategic human resource development plan (SHRDP). While this influence is somewhat sweeping, the corporate Strategic plan does establish certain parameters that delimit the type of develop- mental activities that are more likely to be successful. So the defender strategy tends to predetermine more structured learning experiences that rely on instrumental learning while the analyser strategy depends on communicative learning to surface and pass on certain guiding values and beliefs.
