3.4. Effect of heating rate and holding time
Fig. 9shows the intensity of the diffraction peaks and the relative density for frit CF as functions of the heating rate and the holding time at 10001C. As expected, the longer the holding time, the greater the intensity of the diffraction peak. Peak intensity increased slightly with increasing heating rate. This unexpected effect may be explained by the high surface area due to the material porosity while it passed through the nucleation temperature range at higher heating rates. Thus, there was an increased tendency to form many nuclei on the surface.
