Some authors (Hollis and Mattes, 2007) cited
several factors that may explain the mechanism
by which peanut exerts this effect on body weight.
First, because it has a high content of dietary fibers
and proteins, it promotes suppression of hunger and
energy compensation, so the energy consumed is not
significantly increased. Second, by not being totally
absorbed, especially in the fresh form, it drags other
nutrients in feces. And third, because of its high
level of unsaturated fatty acids, it increases energy
expenditure of individuals due to the higher metabolic
rate (Jiang et al., 2002; Johnston and Buller, 2005).
