In summary,sodium arsenite(60 mg As/kg diet)adversely
affected serum transaminases, alkaline phosphatase and erythrocytic ntioxidant activity along with suppression of selenium level in serum and tissues in kids.It also elevated arsenic concentration inserum and tissues. However, cortisol level was not affected
indicating the existence of an cortisol in dependent stress production in ruminants.Vitamin E supplementation (250 IU vitamin E/kg
diet) reduced accumulation of arsenic and depletion of selenium in
the body and protected the kids from oxidative stress induced by
arsenic to a large extent.
