In Thailand, public speaking courses are offered to EFL students either as a required or an elective course in many universities. However, many students avoid enrolling in these courses because they are afraid to give a speech even though it is just a speech presented in class. (Gardner and Macintyre,1993). As a result, when students graduate from universities without good oral skill. They may face problems when making presentation in their workplaces. According to Curtis, Winsor, and Stephens (1989), oral or spoken communication skill is the top ability that employers seek in job candidates, so it is very important that students should have good English oral skill. Because many professionals in careers are still worried when they have to speak in public (Turk, 1985, p.3), it is valuable to investigate the public speaking anxiety that Thai EFL students encounter when they have to give a speech in public speaking classes in order to eliminate any future problems caused by anxiety when they need to speak in public in their career path.
