1. Americans are extremly independent. They believe that to be truly free, they must have control over their own lives.
2. Because they want complete control over their lives, Americans value their privacy very much. "It's my life, it's my room, it's my space."
3. Americans need proof before they believe something, "Prove it, show me; I have to see it first." They trust science and fell very secure when they can explain things by facts and numbers. Because of this, they believe that there is a reason for everything, and they look for that reason. They do not believe in fate.
4. Americans are suspicious of a public show of strong emotions and value self-control. Americans try to control their crying a funerals, avoid loud arguing or fighting in public, and rarely shout, whistle or sing loudly in either anger or happiness in public.
