I hate Facebook. The loss of privacy, for example. But more to the point,
it reminds me of a place called, Sodom, where the males desires to KNOW each
other. That is the word, KNOW. There are various degrees of knowing another.
When Jacob met his wife-to-be, Rachel, she was a virgin, who had never KNOWN
a man. That is to say, she was Virgin First Class. Second Class being a virgin
who did know a man. ("They're soo bad - the world, really") ... So, you become an
"open book" to the world, it would seem, with a Facebook account. Unless, that is
a front, you are putting on, as in conartistry.
That said, this movie, should not be taken, I think, to be a literal historical drama
about Facebook, but as being allegorical, about human relationships, trust, and
money. Eduardo Saverin - a character in this movie, comes across as being
very concerned about money - longsuffering, like the proverbial girlfriend of a guy
studying to be a doctor, or a lawyer,... wondering, if she has not bet on the wrong horse...
Sure enough, Saverin gets "dumped", and is not allowed to participate in the
financial windfall that Facebook becomes. And so, the movie comes across as
"reverse psychology", asking the male viewer to consider what it is like to be the
longsuffering girlfriend of a n'er-do-well (never-do-well),.. nerd, really... Perhaps
those divorce allocations of 50% are fair after all,... though she hardly seems to
have contributed to the success he created in the workplace.
In a word, I guess this movie, is about "respect", whatever that is.
I thought the actor who played Zuckerberg in this movie, made him come across
as intelligent, whereas when you see Zuckerberg in interviews, he comes across
as "mentally challenged". Just saying...
