of Chlamydia trachomatis42, typhoid fever35, early Lyme disease47,
erythema migrans43 & erythema migrans borreliosis50,
mucopurulent cervicitis51, acute maxillary sinusitis42, gastritis &
peptic ulcers35 and meningitis conditions. Recently American Heart
Association (AHA), American Dental Association (ADA) and new
recommendation by American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
(AAOS) changed prophylaxis protocols suggested that it can be used
as prophylaxis against bacterial endocarditis, in patients with
prosthetic joint replacements and in dentistry53. Amoxicillin is
susceptible to degradation by β‐lactamase‐producing bacteria, and
so may be given with β‐lactamase inhibitor such as clavulanic acid14,
36.
