As expected, most of the plants possessing an anthocyaninless root also displayed a WT phenotype of the fruit (83.3%, Fig. 1j), whereas the remaining showed an Aft-like pigmented fruit (Aþ fruit category, Table 1). Among the 45 plants scored as Aþ for the root phenotype, 40.0% and 17.8% had Aft-like or SB-like (Fig. 1k) fruits respectively.
