Data analysis
The segmentation has been achieved with a technique in two stages.
First, a factor analysis was carried out on the travel motivations. The 13 travel motivations items were factor analysed with principal component analysis. Four factors emerged with eigenvalues greater than one, which together explained 67 per cent of the variance in the 13 travel motives’ items (for the final sample). In interpreting and labelling the four factors we refereed to Ryan and Glendon (1998) previous research as the results agreed. These factors are displayed in Table III.
