The dollar value per hectare used in determining holding value is a function of value based on market price of each grade and yield. To determine whether yield, quality (which determines market price), or both, were instrumental in value loss over time, yield and grade index for 22 cultivars at one location were analyzed for a two-year period. There was no cultivar-by-treatment interaction for grade index indicating that all the cultivars changed in quality in a similar manner (Table 2). There was, however, a significant cultivar by treatment interaction for yield indicating that some cultivars lose weight faster than others.
