3.3. Oil quantity determination
In this study, 30–50 μL raw J. curcas oils was aliquot into sample vials, and the oil quantity in each vial was measured by an analytical balance. The results were normalized to the weight of 30 μL oil, and presented in Table 3. The data show that the method yielded reasonably reproducible results of oil weights, and the percentage of standard deviation to average was in the range of 3–11%. It was observed that more viscous oils (e.g. “China”, “Guangxi” and “Guangfeng #1”) were more difficult to be dispensed, hence were usually associated with higher standard deviation.
