The rigid bone anchorage with mini-implants was developed in
Orthodontics based on the application of conventional dental implants
to replace lost teeth [13]. The conventional dental implants were
successfully used to anchor purposes in the orthodontic treatment.
However, the big size, the large bone area required to insertion, the
high post-operative pain, the difficult to attach springs and elastics,
and the high cost were important limitations [1]. Mini-implants were
the most useful orthodontic system developed to overcome these
limitations.
