In the context of management education, advocates of service learning tout its ability
to provide opportunities for students to enhance their marketability by honing leadership
and interpersonal skills while learning the value of citizenship behaviors
(Kolenko, Porter, Wheatley, & Colby, 1996). Research on service learning supports
the positive impact that service learning experiences can have on leadership development
as well as one’s understanding of being socially responsible (Eyler, Giles,
Stenson, & Gray, 2001).
