For phcum Ben, I was invited to the province to see how Cambodians celebrate the holidays and what they do in the pagoda. In my never ending adventure to see the real world, how could I refuse :-)
As always, the Cambodian people are Amazingly welcoming and profoundly confused as to why I don't drink alcohol. Visiting many many homes and being filled with banana wrapped in rice(my favourite khmer snack for many years), amok, fish in peanut and ginger, chicken and rice soup, mango salad, bbq fish and the lost goes on and on. Being the only foreigner in the village seems to be a novelty.
Taking a old looking wooden boat to the pagoda seemed strangely normal.
Staying out here reminds me in some ways of the countryside in Ireland for its landscape and friendliness and in other ways, it reminds me of my time volunteering in the province of Philippines. Back to showering from a bucket :-D
