Motile endosomes are present in all root cells
After having identified the GFP-FYVE-labeled plant
endosomes inM. truncatularoot hair cells, we analyzed
the pattern of their distribution in other root cells. In
stably transformed M. truncatularoots, GFP-FYVE
was detected on highly motile endosomes in all root
cells. GFP-FYVE-labeled endosomes were especially
abundant in root cap and meristem cells (Fig. 2a and b).
In the small meristem cells, the GFP-FYVE-labeled
endosomes appeared evenly distributed throughout the
cytoplasm and excluded from the nuclei (Fig. 2b, stars).
GFP-FYVE was localized to endosomes that moved
without any preference for a specific subcellular location. In A. thalianaroots, we found nearly the same
distribution of FYVE-tagged endosomes (Fig. 2c and d)
