The weld region retains the same chemical composition as that of the base metal indicating that no inter metallic compounds are formed in the weldment. Hence, the properties of the weld region are almost same as that of the base metal except the strength. There are no irregularities indicating the absence of impurity phases. This implies that the impurities are expelled out from the weld ment as flash during the upsetting stage due to a high I3 current of 1100 A for 0.3 s. Good crystalline nature is observed in the weld
