Figure 30 shows a simplified aircraft moving path at the airport with different shadings representing the intensity of traffic loads on the airfield pavement. High loading paths are areas where the outgoing aircrafts are taxiing at slow speed with higher payload on the pavement. Whereas the low loading areas are either in the takeoff zone of the runways or along the paths taken by the incoming aircrafts with lower loads. The aircraft path map is used in conjunction with the water blockage map before comparing with the identified damage areas as shown in Figure 31. The results from the water blockage map agree well with the damage areas, having most of the problems in the poor drainage areas. It should be emphasized that the blockage map was generated entirely from the conditions of subgrade drainage with detailed drawings presented in Appendix A along with photographs showing the soil conditions surrounding the secondary canals (Appendix C). There is no doubt that the water blockage has resulted in accelerated deterioration of the asphalt pavement as observed presently.
