extraction, the framework of the ordered olivinLiFePO
is retained with minor displacements. They found that the electrochemical extraction of lithium was limited to about 0.6 Li/formula units. Recently, we reported a new synthesis route for LiFePO4
, which includes the addition of a small amount of carbon (5 – 10 wt.%) before the formation of the crystalline phase takes place. As a result, a significant grain size reduction was obtained [6]. The so-obtained material was discharged at 170 mA g1
at 20 jCwitha utilization of about 50%. Discharged at lower currendensity, the utilization of the material increased at about 73% (125 mA h g1) for a C/10 discharge rate. The observation that the capacity is restored when reducing the discharge current could indicate that the loss in capacity is a diffusion-limited phenomenon.
