Some loss of species is inevitable - the history of life on Earth show this. This does not mean, however, that the rich biodiversity of our planet should not be protected. Possible methods range from high-tech operations in genetic engineering to simply the preservation of rainforests and the encouragement of biodiversity in agriculture and diet.
Maintaining biodiversity is important for our present and future well-being, and perhaps our survival.
