Petronas lowered its investment in the project by $1.3 billion to $2.6 billion. The decision did not come as a surprise since most oil majors are taking a cautious stance on their expenditures owing to plunging oil prices. Meanwhile, Petronas said that they will continue to proceed in their planned polymers and glycols projects at RAPID. The planned commissioning date of RAPID’s PRPC Polymers and PRPC Glycols in 2019 will not be affected by the cancellation of the elastomers unit.
