I. INTRODUCTION
We are living in an era that competition between business enterprises and organizations (whether international or domestic business enterprises) is intensely tough and challenging. As a result, business enterprises are facing too much pressure in order to take and consider their business very seriously. After promotion of digital economy by Thai government, a lot of companies and SME (i.e., small medium sized enterprises) forced to use and apply technology in their business processes such as production, procurement, financial transactions, services business, communication services and industrial procedures. Accordingly, organizations and companies need to adapt and respond with new technologies at the same time as doing their best to survive in close competition with other rivals and competitors. The organizations should have good working process (and a structured type of in structure) in order to manage their information system data (used for a versatile purposes such as HR evaluation, procurement analysis and etc.) more responsive and more effective.
The major objective of the current research is to analyze the treatment duration time of the patients within a private hospital in Bangkok (Thailand) based on an authentic (real-life) event log. Accordingly, we applied process mining techniques as a tool to import the medical event log (which was previously captured, stored and collected from information system of the hospital) with the intention of analyzing treatment process of the patients using Disco Fluxicon (as a process mining tool). Accordingly, the main idea was to analyze the average time duration for the treatment processes for each individual (i.e., patient) in such a way to calculate and investigate the average time spent for each treatment process, by identifying with treatment processes (i.e., medical wards/sections) allocated too much waiting time to themselves dealing with the referred patients and customers. Inspecting the treatment processes of a hospital in terms of the waiting time duration has crucial importance, as typically the element of time is an inevitable indicator of a system’s efficiency and performance. Therefore, there was a substantial need to use information from the process mining to as a guide to optimize the process for the patients that were treated in hospital for longer periods of time. so they do not need to waste a lot of time for visiting a doctor, or perhaps they do not need to follow the redundant wards/sections during their treatment process . The findings and results of the study can bring profound benefits and insight for hospital administrators (as well as the personnel involved in the patients’ treatment process) by helping them to enhance the workflow of their hospital (or even clinic) leading to less waiting time in different medical sections/wards and reducing the total frequency of the times a patient needs to refer/visit a ward/section.
