keeping or improving rice yield levels. Mining for stress tolerance genes may lead to a better
understanding of stress response mechanisms included those related to global warming. The ERF
gene family has members among the major environmental stress responsive genes. The mRNA
levels for different ERFs are regulated by many hormones and molecules, produced under different
stress conditions. In our lab, with the goal of identifying the response of rice ERF genes to
environmental stress, cis regulatory element composition in the promoter regions, digital and qPCR
expression profiles of these genes under a range of stress, i.e., anoxia, salt, iron and Magnaporthe
grisea were obtained. Genetic and epigenetic controls are found and candidates have been
identified that have peculiar response profiles.ocesses that these drought-tolerant QTL provide to get a better insight into this complex trait.
