Regardless of any altered expectations that tourists now have of holiday entertainment, many resorts are left with a legacy of theatres and halls built with a very different market in mind. Many of the theatre and concert hall buildings were built in the early part of the twentieth century. They may well have an attraction in themselves as being particularly appealing in their
design, structure and decor but the facilities are not always appropriate to meet the expectations of present-day audiences. The age of many of these buildings has also presented problems in terms of maintenance, heating and air conditioning as well as technical problems in stage production.
