The New Gucci Group
As of early 2000, Gucci Group included four divisions: Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent Couture,
YSL Beauté, and Sergio Rossi, an Italian shoemaker that Gucci bought in November 1999. Each of the
divisions had its own management structure, headed by a president or CEO, who reported to
Domenico De Sole. At the top of the organization, a small circle around De Sole and Ford, including
CFO Bob Singer, human resources head Renato Ricci, and James McArthur, who joined Gucci from
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter as director of strategy and acquisitions, shared responsibility for the
operations of the group as a whole.
