The second development vas Ho Chi Minh's v i s i t t o Moscow
in early August. Continuing his efforts after Bucharest to
act as a conciliator in the Sino-Soviet dispute, Ho very likely also discussed the explosive Laotian situation and his party's
determination to accelerate the pace and expand the scope of violent revolution in South Vietnam. Moreover, a significant shift in DRV commentary on the Soviet Union immediately there- after suggests that Ho's mission to Moscow was successful in eliciting pledges of greater Soviet support in mounting a Dew offensive drive in Southeast Asia.
