The experimental results indicated that the EPR–b-OBSH blowing
agent was more effective than the pure OBSH form as it could
produce EPDM foam with greater cell porosity, more uniform and
better cell distributions. The EPDM foam with EPR–b-OBSH had
worse elastic recovery after prolonged compression loading, but
had higher resistances to water penetration. For wood/NR composite–EPDM
foam laminates, it was recommended that either 3.0 phr
of EPR–b-OBSH or 5.0 phr of OBSH blowing agent was suitable for
optimizations of interfacial adhesions between the wood/NR and
foamed EPDM layers, and low thermal conductivity values.
