The enactment of the Workplace Safety and Health Act
(WSHA) followed on 1 March 2006 to put in place a
legislative framework to implement the three principles.
The Act replaced the decades old Factories Act. Our
former approach had focused on addressing risks
presented at the physical workplace instead of tackling
them at source. Under the new Act, all workplaces are
required to conduct risk assessments to help identify and
manage the sources of risks.
