For 6 years Helen has worked as a full-time nurse in
the intensive care unit of a large teaching hospital. She
had previously worked at a small hospital in a small
town, and she was afraid she would not be able to
adjust to the larger hospital environment. After a
while, however, she began to relax in her new situation.
Her unit offered her a flexible work schedule, which
allowed her to arrange time to be with her family.
Periodically, the hospital provided medical services for
charities or sponsored health fairs in local communities
