Data analysis
Although the rating scales were initially analyzed by using simple descriptive
statistical techniques (frequencies, percentages, etc., the open-ended questions (e.g.
reasons for recommending the program, and program impact) were analyzed by
employing qualitative techniques. The responses were read and categorized according
to emerging themes by two independent readers. The degree of concordance between
the two readers in terms of type and number of themes identified was calculated.
Finally, the data were examined to determine if the quantitative and qualitative
analyses complemented each other.
