Business continuity planning ensures that critical business functions can continue during a
disaster and is most properly managed by the CEO of the organization. The BCP is usually
activated and executed concurrently with disaster recovery planning (DRP) when needed
and re-establishes critical functions at alternate sites (DRP focuses on re-establishment at the
primary site). BCP relies on identification of critical business functions and the resources to
support them using several continuity strategies, such as exclusive-use options like hot,
warm, and cold sites or shared-use options like timeshare, service bureaus, or mutual
agreements [22].
