To gain insight into the distribution of the educational institutions
across the diverse hierarchical categories, the educational
institutions were assigned to their most appropriate category (see
Table 2 and Fig. 1).
The quantitative results give an insight into the distribution of
the respondents' their experiences of teaching and assessment,
giving an indication of the degree of implementation of CBE. The
extreme ends are less represented, i.e. four institutions are positioned
in Category 1 and five in Category 4. The majority of the
institutions are located in the middle of the graph in Category 2 or
3. In addition, it can be stated that most institutions featured in this
research (10 of the 26 corresponding institutions) are positioned in
Category 2.
Looking at the three diverse types of educational institutions
examined, it seems that ICT and Media institutions are the most
competence-based type of institution in the research sample. The
institutions that provide Teacher Education could be positioned in
the middle bracket, while the Management institutions are often
classified in the first categories.
