The majority of participants identified physical activity as
being enjoyable and a fun activity. All participants who
took part in the study found benefits in physical and mental
health. Within this theme, subthemes emerged, participants
reported that endorphins and ‘the feel good factor’ when
undertaking physical activity gave them a sense of well being and positive self-image. For many participants,
physical activity was a meaningful activity beyond diagnosis
and provided a way of getting back into a daily routine
that appeared to assist their recovery
