italy In Pontremoli took place the 51st edition of the Literary Award Bancarella Sport, established in 1954 on the proposal of Panathlon, following the popular Bancarella Award dedicated to literature in general. It can be said that this year, in particular, the role of Panathlon and its attachment to this event have been marked with high visibility before and during the awards ceremony.
In the preliminary phase, the President of Panathlon International had participated in the selection of departure that led to six finalist books, out of fifty works presented. Subsequently, a number of members of Panathlon have voted for correspondence, along with other “jurors” after reading the six finalist works, significantly contributing to their position in the results. During the ceremony, President Giacomo Santini has done an intervention in which he highlighted this successful collaboration and reminded the guests and the hundreds of people sitting in the square, the role and purpose of Panathlon in sport. He thanked warmly President of the District Italy Federico Ghio for the initiative to buy 800 copies of the winning book to be distributed in various clubs who request it. Moreover, the Gouvernors of the President’s Committee of the District Italy were present. During the event, President Santini had the opportunity to greet former colleague Rino Tommasi, awarded for career and former world boxing champion Nino Benvenuti, with whom he shared many boxing running commentaries in the Olympics. The atmosphere of cordiality and enthusiasm was favored by the perfect organization of the event, which has as its pillars Giorgio Cristalli and Beppe Benelli, as incomparable conductors Paolo liguori and Paolo Francia and as a Panathletic support the constant presence of Pontremoli Club and other clubs in the Tuscany and Liguria.
For information, the first prize went to the book “I run because my mother beats me,” of the comedian Giovanni Storti (trio Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo), published by Mondadori.
