Casida and Pinto Zipp explored the relationship of nurse managers leadership styles and organizational culture in a variety of nursing units in a northeastern US hospital system that had demonstrated excellence in patient satisfaction outcomes.
Participants included 37 nurse managers and 278 staff nurses.
The researchers used the MLQ as the measure of leadership style and the Dennison
Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) to examine four types of organizational culture traits (ie, adaptability, involvement, consistency,mission).
