Workforce Engagement Best Practices
1. Have a different member of the work team lead the Pre-Job meeting each time
2. Have a different member of the work team lead the De-Brief meeting each time
3. Always use check lists and Assign different member of the work each time team to:
a. Use the Pre-Job Process check list to be sure nothing important is missed
b. Use the NEW Layers Of Protection Check list to be sure nothing is missed
c. Use the Detailed De-Brief check list to be sure nothing important is missed
4. Have personnel from other work teams to observe your work team performing a pre-job meeting and a de-brief & provide feedback (debrief your pre-job meeting and debrief your debrief)
5. Find opportunities to have observers observe (Use Service Partners) your execution and use the Observer’s check
6. At the daily pre-tour meetings, have someone from a number of work teams de-brief their job of the previous day for the whole group
7. Have a team member describe how another team member could get hurt based on their top 2 E-Colors and how they could watch out for their team mate’s back
8. Once or twice a hitch during safety meetings, have a work team describe a job they are about to do and perform their pre-job meeting in front of the whole crew and obtain feedback. Similarly do a debrief of a recent job for all to observe and provide feedback
9. Supervisors find opportunities to observe a work team before engaging. During the De-Brief, challenge everyone in the work group to reflect back on that operation and provide an idea on improvement. Use that exercise as a discussion topic at the next safety meeting.
10. For new and or recently changed operations as a result of needing to implement management of change (everyone may now be an SSE with this changed operation or procedure)
a. Do a walk through exercise
b. Have an observer for the first 30 to 60 minutes
c. Have regularly scheduled planned time outs to review
11. Cross pollination rig visits whereby OIMs, DSMs, Tool Pushers, OE-HES reps, etc. visit a nearby rig or completion operation to observer, learn and share best practices.
12. At the end of the debrief, challenge each team member individually for an idea to make the job better
13. During the pre-job challenge each team member individually for an idea to make the job better
We look forward to an exciting year in 2014. Please do your part, in order that we all as one team may be successful in achieving 100% success.
