Using EST sequences and RT-PCR, a 961 bp cDNA
fragment of a putative oleosin gene was isolated (termed
Coco-Ole). Sequencing indicated that the cDNA of
Coco-Ole contained an open reading frame of 375
nucleotides (nt) encoding a polypeptide of 125 amino
acid (from positions 132 to 506; Figure 1), a stop codon,
a 131 nt 5' leader and a 330 nt 3' untranslated region
before the start of the poly(A) segment.
