Kop idol Suarez, 26, is openly chasing a Real Madrid move, similar to Torres before his eventual Chelsea switch in 2011.
But former team-mate and retired Reds icon Carragher insists Suarez’s form will not suffer in the same way Torres’ did if the Reds decide to hold on to the Uruguayan.
Carragher, the newest addition to Sky Sports’ team of experts, said: “Keeping unhappy players is an issue.
“Torres wasn’t the same player and downed tools. But with Luis, I don’t think it would be an issue.
“Torres wasn’t giving his best and it was a mistake to keep him. If the club keep Suarez, he’d be as committed as ever.”
